The company
Next Core Suite is procurement software for complex institutions with their own regulations. Most procurement software forces the institution to adapt to it, or to pay months of consulting to configure it. We start from the institution's rulebook.
We use AI in a specific way: not as a chatbot and not to automate loose tasks. The AI reads the rulebook, with its amount thresholds, approval matrices and required documents, and turns it into the system's configuration: stages, approval flows, validations and documents. That configuration goes through validators, simulated test cases and the approval of a person before it goes live.
The AI never operates during a real purchase. A deterministic execution layer does, which leaves everything auditable. That layer already runs in production at a Chilean university, and we are building the configuration AI.
The company won Gearbox's 7th Gear Challenge in 2024, which came with a USD 25,000 investment from Fusen World.
My role
I am co-founder and CEO. I lead the strategy, the product, the finances and the relationship with investors, from Concepción, with the backing of Fusen World.
Before this I worked in medical equipment purchasing in Chile's public health sector, which is where I learned how a large institution actually buys.
Strategy
Choosing which institutions to serve and why a rule-driven approach beats configuring a generic tool.
Product
Keeping the AI where it helps, in configuration, and out of the running purchase, where auditability matters.
Finance and investors
Funding the company and keeping investors informed.
How it connects to my background
In purchasing I saw that the hard part is proving you bought correctly. In my thesis I designed a system, measured its effect and reported where it fell short. NCR applies the same habit to institutional purchasing: make the rules explicit, test them before they go live and keep a record of every decision.
